They began by writing about how shapes change under translations, reflections, and rotations, then inquired into the difference between rigid and non-rigid motions. Through collaboration at six hands-on stations, they matched vocabulary, plotted coordinates, and identified transformations, while organization and reading skills were reinforced as students used their notes to guide learning.

This week in Ms. Ridgeway’s class, students participated in a WICOR-focused activity designed to strengthen their critical reading and collaboration skills while analyzing the short story The Banana Tree. As part of this lesson, students worked in teams to complete a 3-2-1 Summary, which included:
• 3 examples of personification found in the story and how each helped create the mood,
• 2 connections between the text and the real world, and
• 1 sentence explaining the author’s use of symbolism.
After completing their summaries, students took part in a gallery walk, allowing them to view and reflect on the work of their classmates. This interactive component encouraged thoughtful discussion, peer feedback, and multiple perspectives on the text.

Hands-on learning in Mrs. Moore’s science class today! 🧪 Students created their own distance-time graphs by walking to set points, timing their partners, and counting strides. This activity put WICOR into action—collaborating with peers, organizing data, and writing about their results—all while making math and science concepts come to life!

What an incredible afternoon at the Hobbs Middle cross country meet! Four schools—Hobbs, Avalon, King, and Wallace Lake—came together for a great day of competition, sportsmanship, and school pride. Each runner gave their best effort, and the energy and support from families and fans made the event even more special.
Sports like cross country remind us of the values of perseverance, teamwork, and determination. We are proud that Santa Rosa County provides opportunities for our students to challenge themselves and celebrate one another’s successes.
A special congratulations goes to our Hobbs Jaguars for an outstanding showing! Luke Lomoriello ran a phenomenal race, taking first place by a wide margin, and Greyson Ehart showed grit and heart, earning second place in a thrilling photo finish that he pushed through all the way to the line.
We are proud of all of our runners and grateful to the coaches, families, and schools who made this event possible. Go Jaguars! 💚💛







Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we review student grades, we have noticed that some students currently have failing averages. Only students who have turned in all assignments will be eligible to recover a failing grade through our course recovery program.
If a student has three or more zeroes in a class and fails, they will not be allowed to make up that grade through recovery. Instead, they will need to focus on improving performance during the next grading period to pass.
We encourage you to partner with us in helping your student stay on track. Please reach out to your child’s teachers or guidance counselor for support with assignments, tutoring opportunities, or strategies to ensure success moving forward.

September 17th is Constitution Day, commemorating the day in 1787 when, at the end of a long hot summer of discussion, debate and deliberation, the delegates to the Constitutional Convention signed America’s most important document. George Washington, on behalf of the Convention, transmitted the proposed Constitution to the Congress assembled under the Articles of Confederation. Eleven days later, the Congress by unanimous resolution passed the proposal on to conventions of delegates to be chosen in each state. It was in these state conventions that the Constitution was thoroughly discussed, debated and eventually ratified.
